Teaching Fellowships & Awards

Certificate of Teaching Excellence, Harvard University
Each semester, the Bok Teaching and Learning Center at Harvard recognizes faculty who have received stellar teaching evaluations. I received awards for both semesters of my first year at Harvard.
Dean's Award for Excellence in Teaching, Duke University
The Duke University Graduate School created the Dean’s Award for Excellence in Teaching to celebrate and honor exemplary teaching by currently enrolled PhD students who are engaged in teaching Duke students. Each spring, The Graduate School recognizes doctoral students who best exemplify the characteristics of effective college teaching as they prepare for lives of service, leadership, and teaching. I was one of four students recognized in 2019.
Preparing Future Faculty (PFF), Duke University
Mentor: Dr. Gwynn Morris, Meredith College | 2017-2018
I was selected for Preparing Future Faculty, a competitive fellowship that allows doctoral students and postdoctoral fellows to explore the ins and outs of faculty life. Fellows visit a 6 local colleges/universities, including an HBCU, a women's college, and a state school. These visits involve speaking with faculty members to understand how they feel about their institution, engaging with students to get their perspectives, and speaking with deans and/or teaching and learning administrators to get a wholistic understanding of the inner workings of the school. Fellows also choose a faculty member from one of the 6 institutions to act as their direct mentor. My mentor was Dr. Gwynn Morris, an Associate Professor of Psychology at Meredith College. With Dr. Morris, I attended faculty meetings, sat in grant meetings, shadowed her as she taught, and learned more about her motivations for joining a small women's college. She also shared resources for teaching and mentoring and allowed me to guest lecture in her class.
Certificate for College Teaching, Duke University

  • Fundamentals of College Teaching, Spring 2016
  • College Teaching and Visual Communication, Spring 2018
  • Psychological Research in the Classroom, Spring 2018
